Week 5 reflection

This week I learned about copyright and the importance of understanding fair use. Understanding copyright allows students to stay aware of the ethical, legal, and practical implications of using someone else’s work. As for educators, navigating the complexity of intellectual property is made easier when they have a full and clear understanding of copyright. Without proper knowledge, teachers may unintentionally infringe upon copyright, putting them or their organizations at risk of legal action. Furthermore, understanding fair use allows teachers to include copyrighted resources into their lessons without obtaining consent. Educators can make the most of their teaching materials, while staying within the law.

Knowledge of copyright can deepen the education experience for both students and educators. Teachers and students can work together to create unique projects while being aware of limitations. Teachers can show students how to use copyright content in an ethical way by altering content in accordance with fair use laws. Students are encouraged to consider the usage of content in their own learning and creations. Educators and students can work together more effectively when there is a full understanding of copyright. This knowledge can encourage creativity in students and foster digital responsibility.

Week 4 reflection

A flipped classroom has impacted teaching and learning in the best way possible. This style of teaching has such a positive impact on all students regardless of what type of learner they are. Each student can learn at their own pace, giving them the ability to rewind and revisit as many times as they need. As a result, students can ask questions on topics that were not clear and have discussion, complete hands-on activities, and collaborative projects. This would result in more teacher-student interaction and an inclusive learning environment. This style of teaching can deepen the educational experience for both teachers and students by completely transforming the way we teach and learn.

As for QR codes, this technology impacts both students and teachers in a convenient way. This technology provides a versatile, efficient, and engaging way to access and share information. This allows students to access information, videos, and tutorials by simply scanning the code with their electronic device. For educators, this technology can save them time and supplies. Most importantly, educators can use QR codes to link resources in alternative formats or tools with adaptive features. This gives teachers the ability to cater to students with different learning styles, fostering inclusivity in the classroom.

Week 3 Reflection

This week learning about block coding was mind blowing. Before this assignment I did not know a thing about coding. When I watched the video introducing block coding, I was not sure how I would get through this assignment. However, once I dived in and began to create my dance party, I found myself having fun doing this assignment. This assignment will have an enormous impact in my journey towards being an educator. Block coding is a great tool to use to teach students problem solving and critical thinking. An assignment like this can really get students interested and engaged in STEM subjects. Coding can even spark students' interest to pursue a technology/STEM based career. This can spark an interest in technology that can result in a positive learning atmosphere for the classroom.

Block coding can deepen the educational experience by making lessons fun and exciting. Assignments like this can get students engaged and excited to learn modern technologies. This type of assignment allows students to work hands-on and collaboratively sharing ideas with classmates. This can result in students taking interest in similar subjects like science, physics, and math. For educators, an assignment like this can create an exciting learning environment where students learn essential 21st-century skills that they get to use in the future.
