Week 2 Reflection

The technology i learned in week two significantly enhances both teaching and learning. Besides enhancing digital literacy, creating a YouTube channel is helping me stay up with today’s current technology. It seems like every child knows how to navigate YouTube, and what better way to get student’s attention than to use this social media platform to create content that shares knowledge and presents complex ideas. This helps educators keep students interested and engaged. This platform also impacts learning in a positive way. Students can go back and replay certain sections of the video that were not clear or review as many times as a student needs. This can also help students post their feedback in the comment section to give teachers confirmation if the video was helpful and clear.

Digital etiquette and cyberbullying also impact teaching and learning. In week two, this topic was the most interesting thus far. It is crucial for students to have digital etiquette and practice it at every online interaction. In today’s world, there is so much cyberbullying happening, and students need to be cautious and avoid it at all costs. Cyberbullying has become such a huge issue in the last few years, that it is affecting students' mental health. Educators must enforce digital etiquette to promote a supportive learning community where students feel safe to express ideas and engage with other classmates.

The technology I am learning in week 1, is extremely interesting. To start, it can impact teaching and learning in so many ways. First, creating videos is an interesting way to get students' attention. This can be an assignment in the beginning of the school year that can help students break out of their shell and be less timid like in this class. This can have a positive impact on the student’s learning experience. Another interesting technology I learned was how to create a blog. This can impact my teaching and students learning in a positive way. As an educator, I can use this technology to create a safe space for students to share their thoughts on class topics and discussions. For students this can have a positive impact, as they can share both positive and negative attitudes towards different assignments with the teacher.

This technology can deepen the education experience for both teachers and students by creating fun and interactive ways to teach and learn. Technology like blogs can allow students to express themselves, practice their writing skills, and even share ideas with other students. This can teach students how to collaborate with each other to get assignments done. This technology can also help teachers understand their students by acknowledging and understanding how the students are expressing themselves. As an educator, creating videos can help students better understand topics as they can go back and rewatch if needed.
